This last Saturday (8/30), Jana and I took a course called, "Assault Prevention." It was an eight-hour self-defense course that was specifically geared to teach how to avoid assailants and what to do when confrontation is inevitable.
The class was taught by Terry Hipp, a law enforcement and corrections veteran of 27 years that has brought his wisdom to share with participants like us. I was impressed with his practical insights, and I was thankful for both Jana and I that we now have a bit more confidence too. The class was about half-lecture and half-activity, as we learned different ways to "get away" from the bad guy. Terry wisely reminded Jana and I that Jesus said to be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. Part of that wisdom may be knowing when to run and know what to do when you can't.
It was a great course, and for anyone in the Twin Cities, I would highly recommend it.
