I got back yesterday from an overnight trip to Sengerema. I went out by motorbike on Saturday around 2:00 pm. Pretty uneventful, at least as uneventful as driving a motorcycle down a 1.5-lane dirt road competing with oncoming traffic can be. I arrived in Sengerema at around 4:30 pm, and I got to spend the evening with Hamisi discussing ministry, theology, and the most recent session of Bible Institute.
Yesterday morning, I preached from James 1:3-4, speaking about Christian joy in trials. I have been trying to continually work on adapting my preaching style to communicate more effectively in an oral culture like the one here. I have been enjoying thinking creatively about how to preach the New Testament epistles in a more narrative style. It is an exciting challenge.
I got home about 3:00 pm.
What fun to read about you talking with Hamisi and having a mental picture of where you were and who you were with...

The word "uneventful" made me smile. Just another day of commuting out to a village in Tanzania!
