Rain and Fire Ants

Last night we got our first rain in the last couple of months. It was great, but the guests that it brought to our door are not great.

 We had hundreds of thousands of fire ants pouring though our yard. This isn't uncommon to have ants after a good rain, but I was surprised at just how many came to visit. When they get on you, they have a mighty mean bite.

I spent a good half-hour this morning trying to sprinkle a powdered poison over the eight or nine streams of ants that poured over our porch, through our yard, and that were trying to get in our house. Here are a few more pics of our unwanted guests.
