I was recently asked for some general prayer requests for the work here. In reply, I put together the list of six requests below. These are requests that are always "current," that you could always pray for us and the work here.
1. Pray for the spiritual strength and growth of these young churches. Most of the members are first-generation Christians and bring with them many of the struggles of their former way of life. Pray that they would more fully live out the reality that God "has delivered [them] from the domain of darkness and transferred [them] into the kingdom of his dear Son" (Col 1:13).
2. Pray for the pastors and evangelists that are leading these congregations. They need God's grace to "shepherd the flock of God that is among [them], exercising oversight, not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have [them]; not for shameful gain, but eagerly; not domineering over those in [their] charge, but being examples to the flock" (1 Pet 5:2-3).
3. Pray that the pastors and evangelists would have wisdom balancing the need to feed their churches as well as feed their families physically.
4. Pray for me that I would grow in godliness, exert perseverance, and stand firm spiritually, that I would "set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity" (1 Tim 4:12).
5. Pray for the Bible Institute students, that they would have a growing "love that issues from a pure heart, a good conscience, and a sincere faith" (1 Tim 1:5).
6. Pray that "the word of the Lord would speed ahead and be honored" (2 Thes 3:1).
